Each year we invite children from an inner city Philadelphia congregation to come to Good Sam to hunt for candied-filled Easter eggs scattered all over our 10-acre church grounds. Then we have a fellowship lunch and share the Easter story .

Mennonite Central Committee invites congregations to come each year to help pack canned meat to provide for people in crisis throughout the world. This year canned pork was sent to Ukraine. A group from Good Sam helped boil the meat, label, and date it along with other volunteers.

We partnered again with a network of area churches to provide and serve lunch to needy folks and families in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. People who come receive a hot meal, a packed lunch, and can take home donated clothing and shoes collected by various congregations.

We had our first Brainstorming Saturday was a day of prayer, creativity, and hope for our community. We gathered to seek God’s direction, dream together, and imagine new ways to share the love of Jesus in practical, life-giving ways. From fresh outreach ideas to small acts of kindness, our focus was on improving the lives of the people who live around us. We left encouraged, united, and excited to put these ideas into action.

We gratefully participated in the Mosaic Mennonite Conference Annual Assembly. Members of our congregation joined others in a vibrant time of worship and celebration, giving thanks for what God is doing across the wider church. Several of our members also served as delegates, thoughtfully representing Good Sam during the business sessions. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect, listen, and contribute to the shared work of God’s kingdom.
