Embracing Change as

We Move Forward in Faith

Our church has deep roots in tradition, but we understand that to serve today’s community effectively, we must embrace change. As we reflect on our history, we are adapting our ministry to meet the needs of modern life—fostering connection, outreach, and relevant teaching while staying true to our core values. We're not just preserving the past but building a future where our faith is lived out in practical ways, creating a space where everyone can experience the love of Christ in ways that speak to their lives today.

Our Back Story

Good Sam began with a vision from God, given to Reverend J. J. Plenert, pastor of First Mennonite Church in Philadelphia. In 1951, a search for property began, and in 1953, a plot in Huntingdon Valley was secured. The first worship service was held in January 1956 in the parsonage basement. In 1957, the church adopted its name and constitution. By 1959, a new location was found in Holland, PA, where construction began for a parsonage and later the church building, which was completed and dedicated in 1962. Through God’s guidance, the church has grown, and His presence continues to sustain us today.

A New Pastor for

A New Way Forward

Between then and now, the church has experienced both highs and lows in our impact on the community and attendance. In 2024, we committed ourselves to re-engaging with the BuxMont community, making it our mission to be a positive and supportive presence. To do this, we are embracing the changes needed to become a church where everyone is welcomed and supported—helping people realize how good life can be when lived with a heart for God.
